Another school year has started....and will be over before we know it! ONWARD! will look differently at each school this year based on the needs of families and interests of students. I'd like to ask that you welcome two new site coordinators - Leah Webb and Jonathan Falby.
Leah will be working at WMHS and is looking forward to bringing her gardening skills and outdoor adventure background to the program! Homework Zone has already begun at WMHS and provides students with an opportunity to receive help and academic support. The program session will begin on 9/19. Information will be available soon. Leah has been busy recruiting instructors!
Jonathan is a Washington resident and will be working at WVS. Jonathan brings some education and afterschool experience to the program as well as his passion for farming! ONWARD! will begin on 9/26 at WVS and will operate 4 days a week. We're looking forward to seeing new instructors as well as those who we have been fortunate to have in the past!
I'm recruiting coordinators at two other schools - WES and OCS. Program planning at WES is well underway thanks to Brittany Tullar. The program sessions at that school will be identified as LEAP (Learning, Enrichment, Academic Program) and will begin the week of September 19. Watch for flyers and sign-up information to come home on 9/9. OCS will be in a holding pattern until a coordinator is found!
This year at OCS and WVS students will only attend programs at their own school. We will not be transporting students between the two schools. We're hoping this will be more convenient for families as well as helping create a sense of ownership for students and staff at their own school.
